Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 16, 2026
Mise ("we", "our", "the app") helps you track your pantry, cook what you have before it expires, and optionally share a pantry with your household. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We built Mise to need as little of your data as possible.
Information we collect
- Account. When you sign in with Apple, we receive an Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address (which may be Apple's private relay address). You can set a display name in the app.
- Pantry data. The items, receipts, and outcomes (used / discarded) you add. If you join a household, this data is shared with the other members of that household so you can manage one pantry together.
- Images you scan. Photos of receipts and food/barcodes you capture are sent to our AI provider to read the text and identify items. These images are processed to extract that information and are not stored by Mise after processing.
- Device & sync data. A device authentication token so your app stays signed in and can sync your pantry across your devices.
How we use your information
- To provide the core app: tracking your pantry, generating recipes, and syncing your data across your devices and household.
- To operate features you enable, like expiry reminders (scheduled locally on your device) and household sharing.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Service providers
We use a small number of trusted providers to run Mise:
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, for authentication.
- Supabase — database and backend hosting, where your account and synced pantry data are stored.
- Google (Gemini API) — AI processing of the recipe and scan requests described above. Images and text are sent for processing to return results to you.
Data sharing within a household
Household sharing is optional. If you join or create a household, the pantry data in that household is visible to its members. When you leave a household, you keep your own copy of the pantry, and data you contributed remains with the household for its remaining members.
Data retention & deletion
You can delete your account at any time from You → Delete account in the app. Deletion removes your account and personal data (following a short recovery grace period after which it is permanently removed). You can also leave a household or remove members at any time.
Children
Mise is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
